-- Creating Links --
(NOTE: For the purpose of showing the exact text needed to make
the links clickable these links have been deactivated so none of
them show up as links on the page.)
Creating "clickable" links with AOL's email program is a common
problem. It has nothing to do with the AWeber System but rather
AOL's email software and the way that the links are written in your
messages on AWeber.
For most people not on AOL when they write or receive a link they
follow the format:
Web Site Link:
http://www.aweber.com/
Email Link:
mailto:example@aweber.com
If you were to email something written like that to almost anyone
not on AOL they would be able to click directly on them and go to
the site.
Now comes the tricky part for AOL. When an AOL users writes an
email message their email software automatically converts the
links to HTML format so they can be clicked directly on by other
AOL users. For example:
Now when someone on AOL receives the above text in the message
it'll display, "Click Here for AWeber", and when clicked on they
will be taken to http://www.aweber.com in their web browser.
Remember, if you utilize this format AOL users will only see the
"Click Here for AWeber" but anyone else on another system will
probably see all of the text in the example above. You probably
only want to write your links like that if a vast majority of
your leads will be coming in thru AOL.
Below are some other examples of creating links for AOL followed
by the text that would actually be displayed when they are seen
in AOL's email program.
http://www.aweber.com
It would display, "http://www.aweber.com", since that's the text
between the > and < signs above.
